Since the latest PlayOn upgrade I have been receiving an error when I try to the play on service. It says that it could not be stopped and then returns a window that states contact support. I have been talking to support for a few days but it does not seem like they have a fix.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Thanks for the reply. I am not happy you are having issues but it is helpful to know that I am not alone with issues on this release.

Did you have Windows set up to allow restore points? If so, try restoring Windows to an earlier back up

Looks like it is the new version as I suspected. Thanks for the confirmation.

lazya1 over at playonplugins.com had the same issue. installed the full installer again and it asked to fix errors. I installed this as well but it did not ask me to fix however as of right now it seems like it might be fixed. Will report on this again tomorrow if anything changes.

lazya1 fix did not work for me. I stop the server it returns an error that it can not be stopped. Then in the status box it shows "stop error" I click there and then it will show the usual "not running" I then wait about 30 seconds to be safe and start the server which starts again. Each stop after this is normal but over time (not sure exactly how much or why) the error will return on a subsequent server stop.

For right now it appears as if the restore back to 3.4.38.2949 has reversed the issue. I see there is a new 3.8 update but I am hesitant to try it until I know it addresses this issue. The release notes say nothing specific about it.

Upgraded to 3.59 PlayOn version and the problem does not exist in this update.

I've been on 3.59 since it came out and I have the can't stop service error. I've been rebooting the pc when I update or add scripts.

That is really weird. One I went to this version my errors for stopping it have gone away. Although I don;t think i can reboot the server through a script like I usually can. Seems the folks at Playon might need some of us heavy users to beta test for them

Not being critical and believe me I am no big fan of PlayOn support (but a BIG fan of PlayOn)....but before you go blaming the update you might check out your system. I'm running Win 7 64 bit on a quad core AMD and I can start and stop PlayOn from the server or from any of my devices and no problem.
I thought I had some issues a week ago with the Playon. Things started running real slow on the computer too. IE was like a really lagging so i cleared the cookies and temp files and that helped but it still didn't respond well. I also had edited a video file that I discovered I could play but could not copy it. Windowz kept telling me I didn't have access to the file! So I started thinking there was something wrong here with this machine. Sure enough, I ran a test on the hard drive (Seagate) with software from the manufacturer. Right off, first test I ran, it failed. Then the software even checked to see if it was still in warranty, which it was till the end of this year (lucky me!) so I got a new drive from Seagate and all is well!!
Just sayin'...you might want to check things out like the hard drive and memory modules and the CPU

I need to be more clear on what I did to fix the stop error...first, I stopped playon and closed my settings box. I went to the home page for playon and downloaded playon again...you do not have to delete it. The options to modify, repair or delete are given here and not the update. I ran this and haven't had any problems since...hope this works for others!
